HANGING CROOKED.
One side is lower than the other, or a roller has jumped the rail. Stop running the door. This one matters.
WHY IT HANGS CROOKED.
A crooked door almost always means a lifting cable let go on one side. The other cable is now carrying double, and the door is one cycle away from coming down harder.
Rollers jump the track for the same reason, or from a bent rail after a bumper tap. Either way the door is no longer being carried the way it was designed to be.
This is the one symptom where we tell people to stop touching the door entirely. A door off its cables can fall, and a falling door doesn't negotiate.
CHECK THIS FIRST.
- Don't cycle it again, even to test it. That is the check.
- From a distance, look for a slack or dangling cable at either side of the door.
- If a car or mower tapped the door lately, mention it when you call. It helps us bring the right parts.
This is the call-us one. Springs and cables under load are the two things in a garage that can genuinely hurt you.

Can I still use a garage door that's off track or crooked?
No. One cable is doing the work of two, and the next cycle can bring the door down hard. Leave it exactly where it is, unplug or lock off the opener, and call. This is the closest thing garage doors have to an emergency.
What knocks a garage door off its track?
A snapped lifting cable is the usual cause. The rest is bumps and wear: tapping the door with a bumper, a roller finally giving out, or a track bracket working loose from the framing.
Will an off-track door damage anything else?
Left alone, no. Run again, yes: bent panels, twisted track, and a much bigger repair. The cheapest version of this problem is the one where the door doesn't move again until we get there.
