WHAT A DYING DOOR SOUNDS LIKE.

  • Grinding or squeaking that gets louder every week.
  • The door feels heavier than it used to, or moves unevenly side to side.
  • Frayed cable strands you can see, or a cable hanging slack.
  • The door sticks partway, or won't seal flat against the floor.
  • A panel that's dented, cracked, or pulling away from its hinges.

A garage door is the biggest moving thing on your house, and every part of it wears: cables fray, rollers flatten, tracks get knocked out of line by a bumper or a basketball. Catch it early and it's a cheap fix. Ignore it and one worn part starts chewing through the others.

We carry the common parts on the truck: cables, rollers, hinges, brackets, seals, and hardware for the brands we see every day around Davie County. Most repairs are done in one visit, and every repair ends with a safety check of the springs, cables, and opener reverse so you're not calling us again next month.

Not sure if it's worth repairing? We'll tell you straight. If a door is rusted through or the panels are done, we'd rather quote you an honest replacement than sell you a repair that won't hold.

EVERY PART, ONE BY ONE.

Garage door cable replacement

Lifting cables run from the bottom corners of the door up to drums on the spring shaft. They carry the door's weight every cycle and wear out the way a rope does: a few broken strands, then rust, then a snap. A frayed cable should be replaced before it breaks, and cables are replaced in pairs so both sides lift evenly. If one has already let go, read what to do when a garage door cable snaps and keep the door still until we get there.

Rollers and hinges

Rollers ride in the tracks on each side, and hinges join the panels so the door can bend around the curve. Cheap steel rollers flatten and rattle, nylon rollers with sealed bearings run quieter and last longer, and a cracked hinge lets panels sag out of line. Worn rollers are behind a lot of noisy garage doors, and new ones are one of the simplest ways to quiet a door.

Tracks and off-track doors

The tracks guide the door and have to be plumb, parallel, and fastened tight to the framing. A bumper tap, a loose bracket, or a snapped cable can bend a track or pop a roller out of it. An off-track door is carrying its weight wrong and can fall, so don't run it. We straighten or replace the track, reset the rollers, and check the cables before the door moves again. More on a door that's off track or crooked.

Panel repair and replacement

Dents, cracks, and panels pulling away from their hinges weaken the door and can throw off its balance. A single damaged section can often be replaced without replacing the whole door, depending on the model and whether matching panels are still made. When they aren't, or the damage runs across the door, we'll talk honestly about a new garage door instead.

Safety sensors

The photo eyes a few inches off the floor on each side keep the door from closing on a person, a pet, or a car. A sensor knocked out of line, a dirty lens, or a damaged wire stops the door from closing at all. We realign them, check the wiring, and test the auto-reverse with every repair. If your door won't go down, start with a garage door that won't close.

Weather seals

The bottom seal and the perimeter weatherstripping keep out rain, leaves, and mice. Once they crack, flatten, or tear, daylight shows under the door. Replacing them is a quick part of most repair visits and makes an attached garage easier to keep comfortable.

STRAIGHT ANSWERS.

REVIEWED OCTOBER 2026

How do I know if my garage door cable needs replacing?

Look at the cables at the bottom corners of the door. Broken strands, rust, kinks, or a cable that hangs slack when the door is closed all mean it's time. Don't touch a cable under tension; the spring is pulling on it.

Can you fix one dented panel without replacing the whole door?

Often, yes. If the manufacturer still makes that panel in your size and style, we can replace just the damaged section. If not, we'll lay out the repair and replacement options side by side.

Why is my garage door so loud?

Usually worn rollers, dry hinges, or loose hardware. A door that grinds or bangs can also have a track or spring problem. Our noisy garage door guide covers the common causes, and a tune-up fixes most of them.

Do you repair garage doors outside Mocksville?

Yes. We cover Davie County and the western Triad: Mocksville, Advance, Bermuda Run, Clemmons, Lewisville, west Winston-Salem, Yadkinville, and Lexington.
